GWENT POLICE
Gwent NIP and Section 172 response guide
Check whether your notice comes through GoSafe camera enforcement or an officer investigation. Follow the response instructions on the document.
Checked against primary legal sources for England and Wales · Updated 7 September 2026 · How we review content
GoSafe reported no online NIP or Section 172 response facility during 2023, 2024 or 2025. That does not confirm the current route. Use the instructions on your notice and contact its issuing office if anything is unclear.
Identify what needs a response
Distinguish a NIP, driver information request, reminder and court papers.
Check the document and keep your response record
- Keep all pages and the envelope.
- Identify the issuing office, information requested, response date and permitted method.
- Respond accurately through the instructed route and retain a copy and submission evidence.
- Seek prompt advice if service is disputed, the date has passed or court papers have arrived.
What does the Gwent disclosure establish?
GoSafe recorded 2,585 Section 172 court referrals and 9,245 reminders for camera detected offences in the Gwent area in 2025. The scope excludes camera detected seatbelt offences and is not expressly speeding only.
Court referrals are not convictions or MS90 endorsements. These separate totals cannot establish an individual recipient’s likelihood of prosecution.
Can I respond online?
The GoSafe response confirms no online facility in 2023, 2024 or 2025. Gwent’s separate officer response states no current online system as at the response. Neither statement should replace the instructions on a newly issued notice.
Do not use another force’s portal. Check the document and verify any uncertainty with the issuing office.
What if I receive a reminder?
Check its instructions and any earlier correspondence promptly. The published reminder count is not a promise that every recipient will receive one or that a response period starts again.
What if court papers or an MS90 appear?
Check the actual court and driving licence records and obtain appropriate legal advice. The force level figures cannot determine what happened in your case.

Build a notice chronology, deadline record, document checklist and concise solicitor briefing in NoticeReady Case. It does not determine whether the notice is valid.
