Gwent: 2,585 Section 172 court referrals and 9,245 reminders in 2025.
The driver information request deserves attention of its own. GoSafe disclosed thousands of reminders and court referrals in the Gwent area, alongside no online response facility during 2023, 2024 or 2025.
A separate procedural step with consequences of its own
The Wales Safety Camera Partnership, GoSafe, supplied these figures for camera detected offences in the Gwent Police area. They concern the process of obtaining driver information, not just the original motoring allegation.
For a recipient, the practical question is what the document asks you to do, how to respond and what evidence to keep. A question about the original allegation should not distract from checking a separate information request.

The trend is a fall, not a rise in enforcement
The reported Section 172 court referral count fell 53.7 percent between 2024 and 2025 and was 37.0 percent below 2023. NoticeReady calculated each change as the difference divided by the earlier annual figure, multiplied by 100 and rounded to one decimal place.
The response does not explain the change. It does not establish improved compliance, a policy change, fewer underlying failures or any causal effect of reminders. No referral or conviction rate is calculated from these separate annual totals.
Two processes, with different information available
Gwent Police supplied a separate response for officer witnessed offences, including roadside NIPs. Its answers reporting no data held for Section 172 requirements, reminders and proceedings must not be confused with the camera figures supplied by GoSafe.
GoSafe distinguishes initial NIPs from additional or further NIP/Section 172 notices and confirms that all its NIPs contain a Section 172 request. Its reminder series is reported separately. None of these document counts establishes the number of distinct drivers.
The camera figures are not expressly restricted to speeding. Camera detected seatbelt offences were excluded because the separate system could not distinguish force area or document type without manual review, and Section 12 was applied. These are not complete totals for every motoring offence in Gwent.
No online response facility in the disclosed years
GoSafe says there was no facility to respond to a NIP or Section 172 request online during 2023, 2024 or 2025. This historical finding does not verify the current GoSafe response route. The officer response separately says Gwent Police does not currently provide an online system, as at its response.
Follow the instructions on your own notice. Do not assume that another force’s portal accepts it. Keep a copy and submission evidence, and contact the issuing office if the route is unclear. Neither part of the disclosure supplies the requested average or median nomination processing time.
