Notice volumes tell only part of the story. Derbyshire supplied annual NIP and Section 172 totals, but withheld reminder and failure to provide information figures on retrieval cost grounds.
Above 2023, below 2024
The 2025 initial NIP figure is 31.3 percent above 2023 and 4.9 percent below 2024. The response does not explain either movement. It does not establish a crackdown, worsening compliance or the likelihood of prosecution.
The same figure was supplied for Section 172 requirements. Do not double count.
The 2025 figure was also 4.9 percent below 2024.
Reminder and proceedings figures: held, but withheld
The force labels both categories as information held and applies Section 12. It says reminder extraction requires individual offence record review because no centrally recorded field permits automatic extraction. Its estimated retrieval time is 12,856 staff hours. This is an estimate, not time actually spent.
The detailed explanation concerns reminders. It does not separately explain how alleged failure to provide information proceedings would be identified. Neither category is a zero count. This response cannot establish a reminder policy, conviction count, MS90 total or the outcome of any individual notice.
Online responses: Starportal identified, scope unresolved
In answer to the question covering 2023, 2024 and 2025, Derbyshire says yes and names Starportal at starportal.derbyshire.police.uk. It does not distinguish years, eligible notices, online nomination or admission functions. This publication does not independently verify the current portal or its availability for a particular notice.
